
About Forest Plantation Development
Unplanned deforestation is increasingly becoming a major problem in the world. Malaysia now faces shortfalls in timber production from its native forest. Since 1990, total log production showed a downward trend. It was further affected when annual allowable cut for native forest in Peninsular Malaysia was reduced in 2005. An alternative to improve the shortfalls in timber supply domestically is through the establishment of forest plantations.
